About me
PhD in Architecture from the Polytechnic University of Madrid with my thesis on the possibilities and limits of the use of big data and the geography of behavior and perception for urban design.
Co-author with José Carlos Arnal of the book “Open City, Digital City,” published by Catarata.
Since the end of 2020, I have been the Director of the Zaragoza City of Knowledge Foundation, one of the institutions that promotes the great center of urban production and reflection, Etopia Center for Art and Technology, in Zaragoza.
My work has consisted, since 2008, of thinking and managing urban innovation projects for my city, Zaragoza. I coordinated the launch a few years ago of the municipal Wi-Fi network and the public incubator system, as well as the European projects in Smart Cities. Within Etopia, I also promoted, among other things, the Open Urban Lab as an open innovation laboratory.
A tireless reader, part-time writer, and frequent speaker, I have given lectures and workshops in more than 20 countries and three continents. A perpetual student, I collaborate as a guest lecturer in several academic programs.
I was co-author of Zaragoza’s digital agenda or “Open Government Strategy 2012-2015. Towards an Intelligent Citizenship,” as well as the book “Etopia. Center for Art and Technology.” I have also contributed two chapters on urban data to the book “Network Design and Optimization for Smart Cities,” published by the University of Florida (USA).
In 2018, Eurocities appointed me Chair of its Urban Data Working Group, and I represent Zaragoza in the Coalition of Cities for Digital Rights (CC4DR), as well as in the Open and Agile Smart Cities (OASC) network.
I am also a Telecommunications Engineer from the University of Zaragoza and hold a Master in City Sciences from the Polytechnic University of Madrid.
